Tickets are going fast for "Come Dine With Us",
Devizes Food Festival's Mystery Dining Experience
on Saturday May 6th 2017, Price £20

Forget about the television programme. There will be no nosing around the bedrooms and knicker drawers between courses! It's a great night out in a local home, where your host will produce a menu of their own choice for six to ten guests. Expect a welcome cocktail and a splendid three or four course meal served up with conversation and good-humour in a welcoming atmosphere.
Bring your own bottle of wine or other drink of choice, then relax and enjoy the evening.
Everyone is welcome, young or old, singles, couples and friends.
If you are new to Devizes it's a great way to meet people!
In 2017 Come Dine With Us is spreading its wings, with two venues in outlying villages.
(People without their own transport will only be allocated places at these rural tables if we can arrange car shares.)
When you book you will be contacted by e-mail by Roz the event organiser to find out about your dietary restrictions and whether you can travel to a venue outside Devizes. You will be notified where you are dining a few days before the event, and we will supply some information on the menu to help you choose your wine to bring.
It is far more entertaining than a restaurant and a wonderful way to start the festival.
Tickets are £20 each, buy now
from Devizes Books or our On-line Ticket Shop
booking fees approx £1.35 (read about booking on-line)

Regency Cooking School

Sorry, this event has been cancelled

Jane Austen (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Devizes is a town that is full of architectural reminders of the Regency period.  As 2017 is the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen, we thought it appropriate to mark this with a reminder of the sort of food that would have been popular at that time.  So this evening will be based on a three course meal dedicated to dishes from the period. It will include a Regency-style cheesecake, mentioned by Jane Austen in a letter to her sister in 1799 from Devizes.

“……and some cheesecakes on which the children made so delightful a supper
as to endear the town of Devizes to them for a long time.”
(Letter from Jane Austen to Cassandra 1799)

On arrival there will be Negus to try (with a bit of history)

The menu will be:
  • Salmagundi – you have to be there to find out more!
  • Roast ham with carrot pudding - delicious
  • Bath Buns
  • Regency-style cheesecake
This will be a busy hands-on session.  Everything will be provided and you will sit down for supper to eat some of what you have made and have plenty to take home as well.

(This evening is designed to complement the 'Regency Supper' Event at the Bistro on the preceding evening).
