"From Plot to Pot" (A Talk) 2018

Aldetha Raymond (of Little Foxes Farm, Seend)

gives a talk entitled Plot to pot: Growing food at home.

Vegetable image courtesy of pixabay

Sorry this event has been cancelled

Aldetha teaches horticulture and small holding courses from her Little Foxes Farm. At Bristol University’s Botanical Gardens she teaches biological sciences and is a full time lecturer in horticulture at Lackham College. Aldetha’s passions
are plant propagation, garden design and plant establishment/maintenance.
She has appeared on radio and TV.

Aldetha writes:-
"There is nothing more amazing than growing vegetables at home,
pulling carrots, growing the perfect cauliflower and chilli peppers.
Experiencing the taste, the pride and the wonderment of nature;
developing the patience and therapeutic skills of the gardener.

Not every aspiring gardener has an allotment or a vegetable plot
to match the likes of Monty Don,
but you will be amazed by what can be grown
in just a modest garden, window box or allotment plot.

Within this talk I hope to inspire you
to bring out your forks, spades and gardening gloves
but I don’t want the fun to stop there............
After growing the next set of tools you will need are in the kitchen
to get the best out of your home-grown ingredients."

"Plot to pot is just the start of a relationship
with the soil and your taste buds."

Date: Mon 7th May 2018 at 7pm
Tickets: £5 (from Devizes Books or On-line)
Venue: The Sports Club, London Rd, Devizes

They maintain the traditions of craft beer along with modern production techniques. Pub signs are still hand painted and Shire horses deliver daily around the town.

For the last two years Wadworth have been generous supporters
of the Devizes Food and Drink Festival

Devizes 1940's Dinner at the Bistro (2018)

We're taking you back in time to a night in 1940's War-time Devizes when people were listening to the music of Glenn Miller and the town played an incredibly important role, the site of a German POW camp and the home of the Wiltshire regiment. This is the era when Salisbury plain became a designated troop training area.

It seems a good time to celebrate the sort of food being enjoyed at the time,
even at the height of rationing, when eating locally and in season was the only option.

Why don't you dress up for the occasion?
Wear your best austerity glad rags
Listen to 1940's Lindyhop music and
Feast like the locals did on :

Homemade bread
Bacon pudding
Corn beef hash
Steamed sponge pudding
and more...
(There will be plenty for vegetarians and gluten-free guests)
